Volunteer of the Month

 Linda Roberts and her husband Fred moved to Daphne in 1997. She retired from the Comptroller of the Currency, a Department of the U.S. Treasury, Memphis, TN.   Both Linda and Fred love animals and have devoted time and effort to finding homes for stray and shelter animals.  In 1999, she was awarded the Eloise Gipson Award for Outstanding Humane Service, by the Baldwin County Humane Society, presently BARC.  She presently takes photos of Daphne Animal Shelter adoptable pets and submits them for Petfinders online, Lost Without You, in the Wednesday edition in The Bulletin Newspaper and in the Baldwin Register’s Sunday edition of the of the Mobile Press Register newspaper.

Linda is a member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), Board member for Friends of Daphne Public Library, member of a 3.0 tennis team, and she also volunteers at the animal shelter in Bay Minette, AL.

In 2002, Linda for recognized in obtaining grants and assisting in book sales, she was named Volunteer of the Year by the Friends of Daphne Public Library. And, for several years Linda was involved in organizing venders for BARC’s major fundraiser, Christmas by the Bay.
